Site Security

Although I like to look at life as everyone living in peace and harmony with their neighbors; the reality of life falls short of this vision. In a crisis situation, some individuals will rise to the occasion, while others will fall into the morass of lawlessness, murder, theft and a general disregard for others. I have come to the conclusion that each shelter complex must look after it’s own security and self-defense. To accomplish this, I recommend that you borrow a chapter out of the American history books that deals with the War of Independence. Within this chapter of the American Revolution is the concept of the Minutemen. These were individuals, going about their normal work, who are ready to go into battle in a minute’s notice. All men and women that make up the shelter unit must be ready to defend the site from predators. They must have weapons on-the-ready while going about the business of shelter construction. They also post lookouts and sentries to prevent surprise. They have a method or raising a general alarm (remember Paul Revere).
